The Ultimate Mystic Seafood Trail

Follow this route to hit every must-try seafood spot in town.

Fresh oysters and lobster at a Mystic seafood restaurant

Everyone writes about lobster rolls in Mystic. Few people write about where the actual fishermen eat. This is the trail I take family in from out of town — six stops, one perfect day, ordered the way you should actually do it.

Stop 1 — Morning oysters at Noank Shipyard Cafe

Tucked behind the boatyard. A dozen Noank Sweets straight off the skiff.

Stop 2 — Mid-morning steamers at Costello's Clam Shack

Order the clams casino. Sit on the upstairs deck over the river.

Stop 3 — Lunch at Ford's Lobsters

Lobster bisque + a half lobster roll combo. BYOB. Pure Noank.

Stop 4 — Afternoon pause at Carson's Store

Old general store. Grab a Foxon Park birch beer and a deviled-egg sandwich. Reset your stomach.

Stop 5 — Sunset raw bar at Sift's sister property, S&P Oyster

Window seat upstairs, mignonette, cold rosé.

Stop 6 — Late dinner at Anthony J's Bistro

Off the trail, but the linguine with white clam sauce closes the day right.

Local Guide Pick

Ford's Lobsters

"Working dock, BYOB, the lobster roll the watermen eat on their day off."

A no-frills lobster shack on the working waterfront in Noank — picnic tables on the dock, paper plates, the real deal.
